Srinagar, May 30(KNO): Commissioner Secretary Rural Development Department (RDD) Mandeep Kour and DDC member Khonmoh Er Aijaz Hussain along with officials of RDD including Director , ACD & BDO on Tuesday conducted the whirlwind tour of Khonmoh and Balhama areas of Srinagar to review the progress on ongoing works especially that of springs, streams and parks besides NREGA schemes. As per news agency--Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Commissioner Secretary Rural Development Department and the DDC members were accompanied by the Director Rural Development Department, ACD Srinagar and BDO Khonmoh. The team reviewed the work on natural springs of Khonmoh and Balhama and stressed on the need for restoration of all natural water bodies including springs, streams and ponds in both the areas. The team stressed that protecting the natural water bodies was the supreme duty of people and the administration. The Commissioner Secretary Rural Development Department and DDC members met people and sought their views on the ongoing process of revival of springs, streams and Ponds in Balhama and Khonmoh areas. The team also visited Gureyal park Khonmoh where Commissioner Secretary Rural Development Department stressed on making the park a tourist attraction given its pristine beauty and natural aura and fauna. DDC member Er Aijaz Hussain while seconding RDD Com Sec stated that the park is bestowed with natural beauty and that it is fit for major tourist attraction in the area. Locals also supported the move stating that the park can attract a large number of tourists. Speaking on the occasion, DDC member Er Aijaz Hussain said that Khonmoh and Balhama areas are bestowed with many springs and under the Amrit Mansarovar Scheme, all the springs will be brought back to their natural form soon while as the Gureyal park will surely be added in the tourist map of Kashmir as one of the best attractions. The officials later assessed the NREGA works and assured that all the works will be streamlined within the shortest possible time--(KNO)
